1981 Ducati 900 SS
£2000 UK - Shipping not included
SOLD
Black and gold livery, third (present) owner has had this bike since 1983. Mileage 40,000 estimated (speedometer was broken, now repaired). This bike is un-restored but was maintained with care when it was running 10 years ago, oil
change every 1000 miles, Silcolene mono grade 50, carbs balanced with vacuum gauges. The past 10 years it has gathered dust and a bit of rust in the
back of a garage.
The only tuning done was a gas flowed head by Steve Winn, standard valves. New Serflex clutch plates to handle extra power from the gas flowing! Girling gas shocks by Hagon.
Problems: Rear Speedline wheel had a big crack in it! Replaced with a Pantah rear wheel adapted by Tony Brancato (Speedline wheel still available).
Rear cylinder has a broken barrel fin (not done by present owner!) includes a spare barrel which was going to use when rebored. Front cylinder exhaust valve
replaced with guide. New threaded insert in front cylinder exhaust.
Charging problem surfaced one day, owner started experimenting and thought he could fit a new three phase alternator and regulator/rectifier from a Pantah
to improve the electrics. Not sure if any of this worked as he has not run it since.
This would be a nice restoration project for an enthusiast.
Motorcycle is in North Yorkshire, England.
